About
Hello! Welcome to my webpage and I'm glad you're here!
A little about me...
I'm originally from Hickory, N.C. where I received my degree from Lees-McRae College. I previously worked ten years at a Title I school (in kindergarten) and moved to Durham ten years ago working in 2nd grade and teaching 1st grade, and 3rd grade at Carpenter Elementary. I'm beyond excited to be part of the Carpenter family and I'm looking forward to what this year holds!
One of my favorite quotes comes from Benjamin Franklin and it says, " Teach me and I forget, Tell me and I remember, Involve me and I will learn." I truly believe in actively engaging their eager minds by incorporating a variety of hands-on activities, enjoyable lesson plans, and cooperative learning projects in the classroom.
When I'm not teaching, I absolutely enjoy being outdoors on a sunny day taking a walk, working in my yard ( I love flowers! ), and any sort of physical activity such as: hiking, biking, running and workouts from Camp Gladiator. I'm a bit of a health nut and enjoy trying new recipes in the kitchen. When it comes to sports, my husband and I are die hard TAR HEEL fans! If I'm not found at one of these places above, you can definitely find me at the beach enjoying walks and taking in the scenery.
Favorite store (s): Target, Home Goods, TJMaxx, Lowes (yes, I love projects!), Teachers Pay Teachers, and Amazon
Favorite food: I especially enjoy southern cooking, but love ANY & EVERYTHING healthy.
Favorite book: Where the Sidewalk Ends
Favorite candy: Dark chocolate is my favorite. However, I can't say no to a Reeses, Snickers, & Peanut M&M's.
Favorite restaurant: Maggiano's and Mexican
Favorite flower: I love Lilies!
Favorite colors: Aqua and coral
